    Hello Parents of GT bound swimmers, 

    There is a lot of info to let you all know about regarding the ASA Divisionals and Championship. I have tried to compile all that info here for ease. If you have any questions, check the website which has all details, or let me know.

    Order of events for Divisionals:
    1. 6 & Under Free Relays - All 6 & Unders should go to the bullpen as soon as they are done swimming their relays to get lined up for their freestyle swim.
    2. All Medley Relays
    3. 6& Under 25 Free - All 6 & Unders swimming the backstroke should go to the bullpen as soon as they are done swimming freestyle to get lined up for their backstroke swim.
    4. All Remaining Freestyle Relay Events
    5. 6 & Under Backstroke - After this event the 6 & Unders are done swimming.
    6. All Remaining 7 and Over Short Freestyle Events
    7. All Long Freestyle Events
    8. All Remaining 7 and Over Backstroke Events
    9. All IM Events
    10. All Breastroke Events
    11. All Butterfly Events
    For Finals we will swim all relay events first and then a regular order of events.
    Championship:

    We must scratch any swimmer that can't participate on Saturday for the Championship before our Divisional Meet ends. Please advise Coach Jacob or Coach Grace if you child cannot be at the Championship on Saturday ASAP. Our team will be fined if a swimmer doesn't scratch and doesn't show up on Saturday.

    Extra things happening around the Divisionals/Championship Meets:

    Community Service Project at GA Tech: Georgia Tech will have donation bins on site at the pool throughout our upcoming ASA Divisionals and Championships collecting new pairs of socks and toiletry products. ASA has set a goal is to get 1000 pairs of socks throughout the week.

    Good Luck Ducks: "Good Luck Ducks" will be for sale at all sessions of the ASA Championship Meet. Stop by the Swim Across America table and write a good luck note to your swimmer. This is a fun way for swimmers to encourage one another as well. Notes will be attached to ducks and delivered to the team's ribbon box for teams to pick up and distribute during the meet. Minimum donation is $3 per duck or 2 ducks for $5. All donations go directly to support childhood cancer research at the Aflac Cancer and Blood Disorders Center at Children's Healthcare of Atlanta.     Jimmy Johns is back for the 2019 ASA Championship Meet. The easiest way to satisfy the cravings of your swimmers (and maybe some parent too!) is to order directly on the Jimmy Johns website, from the GT Jimmy John's 14th Street store, and watch your freaky fast delivery to the aquatic center. On the Jimmy John's website, you can schedule your delivery for the most convenient time for you. Schedule your delivery now, or pick the best window of time after looking at the swim meet timeline in your heat sheet, day of the meet. Jimmy John's will have a table setup in the Mezzanine level (2nd floor) of the Aquatic Center for all deliveries, and possibly a few samples delivered throughout the day as well.

    Photography: The Atlanta Swim Association (ASA) is happy to partner this year with River Oak Photography again this year to provide action sports photography for this year's ASA Championship meet.     Traffic and Parking during Divisionals:
    Just a reminder that parking at Georgia Tech is not free. This includes coaches as well, they will not receive a parking pass. We encourage you to pre-pay for your parking. This will save time and money , To pre-pay for you parking please visit the following link https://gatech.parkmobile.io/events . Carpooling is always encouraged. Parking is a little different this year. Only prepaid parking will be allowed in the W10 and W02 Student Center decks which are located closest to the pool. If you do not pay in advance you will have to park in W23 - North Deck located much farther away from the pool and it will cost you more money. Buy your Parking NOW at https://gatech.parkmobile.io/events . Only buy the day you need and make sure you select the correct day (Day 1 is Wednesday, Day 2 is Thursday, Day 3 is Friday, Day 4 is Saturday). The cost for the advance passes is $10 plus service fee. Day of parking will cost $15 cash/or credit card. A map of the parking areas can be found below

    Souvenirs: The Atlanta Swim Association (ASA) is happy to partner this year with Fine Designs Apparel to provide souvenirs for this year's ASA Championship meet. They will allow us to offer you a much wider variety of items commemorating our annual championship meet, as well as a great selection of colors and materials we have not been able to provide in the past. Fine Designs will be on site at Georgia Tech for the big meet later this month; they have also set up an online store that will allow you to purchase items in advance of the meet, or even after the meet. Obviously,, Fine Designs will have a store where you can purchase these items and more at the meet, but we also wanted to provide you the convenience of shopping from home as well.

    FAQs:

    • Coaches can check in when they arrive in the timing and scoring room just off of the pool deck. Pick up your team packs with credentials, heat sheets and other meet info. Please pay your meet entry fees at that time. Please remember to bring one check payable to Atlanta Swim Association. Entry fees are $23 per swimmer.
    • There will be a coaches meeting 45 minutes prior to the start of each divisional session in the girls bullpen located by the diving well, make sure at least one coach from your team attends the meeting. There WILL also be a meeting prior to Saturday's finals AM session 45 minutes prior to the start of the first finals session.

    • Teams will be allowed into the facility to set up their team area no earlier than 1 hour and 45 minutes prior to your divisional session. Teams are requested to not leave items in the facility overnight on Friday.
    • Scratches for the Championship session should be communicated as soon as possible to allow notification of alternates. Teams are provided a scratch form when they get their heat sheets for their divisional session. That scratch sheet is due back to the meet manager before the end of that team's divisional session. Teams that have swimmers who miss an event after they have submitted their scratch sheet are subject to a $10 per event fine.
    • Late entries will be accepted on a lane availability basis for $30 per ind. event and $50 per relay fees must be paid at the time of entry. Late entries for each session will be cut off 45 minutes prior to the start of each session or at the discretion of meet management. TEAMS DO NOT NEED TO SCRATCH SWIMMERS FOR DIVISIONAL EVENTS. Those will only be empty lanes, there are no refunds for scratches or no shows.
    • Unless your swimmers are going to their events when they are called, encourage your swimmers to stay in their team area during the meet.ALL TEAMS SHOULD MARK THE BACKS OF THEIR 10 & UNDER SWIMMERS WITH A SHARPIE WITH THE SWIMMERS NAME AND THEIR TEAM NAME THIS HELPS THE BULLPEN. Swimmers are not permitted to wander around the facility during the meet.
    • While there is no assigned seating, teams should sit in the designated team seating areas, either on deck or in the stands. Teams sitting upstairs are not allowed to sit sections located over the competition pool, those are for spectators only. Teams may only sit in the sections located above the diving well. Take only the seats you need for that session. Teams hoarding more seats than they need will be relocated to the parking deck.
    • Only swimmers, coaches, officials and credentialed meet workers will be allowed on deck during the meet. Swimmers should report for their events when called. Swimmers enter the pool deck via the back hallway.
    • NEW FOR 2019 - Only swimmers may use the restrooms located in the locker rooms directly off of the pool deck. Coaches, event staff and volunteers age 18 or over my not enter those locker rooms at any time. Restrooms for people age 18 and older are located in the classroom by the diving well, any of the upstairs restrooms, or the locker rooms located by the lower lobby of the CRC.
    • During the divisional meets there will be a bullpen for all swimmers age 12 and under for the individual events only. Teams are responsible for getting their relays to the blocks. Teams will be responsible for getting their swimmers to the bullpen when their event is called to report. FOR FINALS ALL AGES MUST GO THROUGH THE BULLPEN FOR THEIR INDIVIDUAL EVENTS, relays will still go directly to the blocks.
    • For relay events teams will be permitted to have a couple of helpers on deck to make sure their relays get to the blocks. Teams will be provided Relay Worker passes to get these helpers on deck. Once the relay events are done these folks need to head upstairs. Individuals without a correct pass will NOT be allowed on deck.
    • Teams seated on the deck can get their swimmers to the meet staging area (bullpen) by taking their girls underneath the 10 meter platform and directly to the girls bullpen; to get your boy's swimmers to their staging area (bullpen) you can take them underneath the scoreboard, behind the blocks for the boys pool, to access that staging area. Teams seated upstairs should use the back hallway behind the spectator gallery and use the back stairwell to access the downstairs hallway to access the boys or girls staging areas. When swimmers are done they can return directly to their team areas on the deck, or may return upstairs by the back hallway stairs. Please do not use the turnstiles at the front of the facility to go downstairs.
    • Coaches will not be allowed on the bulkheads during the meet, except for relay events to help line their swimmers up. When on the bulkhead, please follow the instructions of the officials.
    • The top 10 relay times, top 40 individual 10 and under times and top 30 11 and over individual times from the combined results of the divisional meets will return for the Championship Final on Saturday. For the Championship session teams will be allowed to only advance their fastest relay from the divisional meets. Both the divisional and championship sessions will be scored and team awards will be provided for each meet.
    • Swimmers qualifying for Saturday's finals can place as high as first place and as low as 40th place, regardless of which place they qualified.
    • We encourage teams to use the same 4 swimmers who qualified for finals from the divisional round. However, teams may make changes to account for swimmers who are not able to return for finals.
    • Alternates (first or second only) will be eligible to be placed into an open lane for a swimmer who does not show for their race. Once a heat has left the staging area to be taken to the blocks the seated alternate will swim in that heat. A qualified swimmer who no shows for that race will then assume the first alternate spot if they show after their heat has left the staging area.
    • RESULTS FROM DIVISIONALS WILL BE UPDATED AFTER EACH SESSION AND POSTED AT www.atlantaswimming.com. THIS IS WHERE YOU CAN FIND OUT IF YOUR SWIMMER HAS QUALIFIED TO SWIM IN SATURDAY'S FINALS.
    • Warmups for divisionals will begin approximately 90 minutes prior to the start of each session. All warmups must be supervised by a coach. Swimmers must enter the water feet first in all lanes and may not use the blocks, except lanes 1 and 10 which are 1 way sprint lanes. During competition the diving well will be available for warmup and warmdown only. Swimmers not following these rules will lose warmup privileges.
    • Warmups for Saturday finals in the competition pool, (the non-competition "boys pool" will be open for all teams at any time) will be as follows teams . Teams A-F 9:30 am - 9:55 am and 2:30 pm - 2:55 pm; Teams G-O 9:55 am - 10:20 am and 2:55 pm - 3:20 pm; and teams P-Z 10:20 am - 10:45 am and 3:20 pm - 3:45 pm. All warmups must be supervised by a coach. Lanes 1 and 10 are for one way sprints only, all other lanes are feet first entry only. Teams failing to follow these rules will not be allowed to warm up.
    • Please stay out of the recreational pool and the Campus Recreation Center workout areas, as well as all restricted areas as posted.
    • Results will be posted upstairs for spectators and downstairs on deck for coaches. Meet Mobile will be active during the meet as well.
    • If there are any questions about the results please have a coach contact meet director Franke Marsden in the scoring room during the meet. Please have the coach handle all issues regarding results, Franke will not deal with irate parents or even mildly irritated ones either.
    • Teams MUST pick up their team's awards at the end of the finals session.
    • There is no smoking allowed in the GTAC.
    • Glass objects are prohibited in the GTAC.
    • Light snacks are OK on the deck, a catered buffet is not.
    • Only swimmers going to their race, coaches and credentialed meet workers are allowed on deck during the meet. Please try to keep the downstairs hallway clear during the meet.
    • Please keep all stairways and hallways clear during the meet. Team setup is not allowed there for any reason.
    • Official Meet T Shirts and Heat sheets are on sale at the Fine Designs and Friend's Unlimited Swim Shop located on the second level beneath the spectator seating area.
